     the personality       On the surface, Riol typically remains a cool, level-headed type of fellow who follows the flow of any given situation while keeping a pulse on issues should they arise. While not someone to act based on assumption, he's an attentive listener with the drive to gather as much intel as possible, making himself an indispensable asset to team communication.Diligent, hard-working, and never the type to cut corners, Riol's dedication to ensuring a job well done has earned him the respect he commands; while others may complain, a fellow associate having even referred to him as a 'tyrant', there's no contest in trusting he is a man of his word... Unless gambling is involved, of course.

Absolutely never let it go unsaid that of all the things Riol's good at, he is the foremost champion in the art of gambling. Yes. That's right. Gambling as an art form, and cheating at the game is yet another skill he's mastered; never accept an invitation to play against him without understanding the consequences of doing so, he's a few steps ahead and looking forward to gauging how the loss treats you on the way down.Thankfully that seems to be the worst offender of all his vices, and often done to make a point. To humble, to give perspective, to gauge another's ability to follow his lead, or even goad them into guessing his next move and drive them mad.

Never seen without it, Riol prefers to keep it on to keep himself from being overwhelmed. Though he can be occasionally found without it, there are very few people who might catch him without it, and even fewer he'd be comfortable spending time without it on.Suffice to say, one might feel lucky should they be a person of whom Riol is comfortable with enough to keep it off.

A beloved gift from long-time friend, Brayflox, though the numbers engraved have worn over the years, it's mostly the result of overuse. Now he uses them to idly roll in his hand while on linkpearl calls, or when lost in thought.Though the job of a corsair often works on the basis of traditional die, Riol utilizes the goblin dice as he says his luck is better when he uses them. While there seems to be truth to this, there is speculation that cheating - of which Riol neither confirms nor denies - involved in almost every rolls when utilizing them.

There is a long-standing tradition amongst Corsairs to keep what appears to be a faded coin, but make no mistake the weight and history each one carries when passed down to the next. Riol's story on how he obtained it varies, and changes; whether it's due to shame, or he'd rather keep the truth secret, it's clear the truth will be kept between him and whomsoever bestowed it to him.

Though old friends of Riol's speculate the dagger was likely passed down from his father, it was actually a gift from his adoptive mother - the owner of the corset shoppe. Not only that, but it was the women of the corset shoppe who taught him how to use it, skills that were later honed by Alistair before the man was robbed of his vision.

Black eyeshadow isn't the only application of make-up Riol knows; while he may not necessarily be someone with a skincare routine, he used make-up regularly in his adolescence and early adulthood. This trend continued when making use of his skills for disguises was necessary for his work as a rogue, and later when recruited into the company of heroes.

the history.

A street urchin on the streets of Limsa much like any other; he was the daughter of a dancer who eloped with a foreign man who left long before Riol came into this world. Suffice it to say, Riol's time with his mother was short-lived as illness took her, and he was left in the care of a fierce owner to a corset shoppe.It was there he learnt much of the skills he still utilizes to this day, the women around him at the time doing all they could to ensure the safety of a young orphan girl - who then paid it forward by caring for the other orphans of Limsa when he could.

With age came responsibility, and thus did he become something of a guardian to the other orphans of Limsa; though he refused to claim them as his own, it was no secret that when one was in trouble, the rest would tattle to Riol. What trouble came got itself what for every time.It wouldn't be until Riol was in his adult years that he would find himself with a new name; few would recognize him as the woman who watched over them in their youth as he was assigned a job that would put his skills to use. Reconnaissance work for [ ＲＥＤＡＣＴＥＤ ] that eventually led him to joining the Company of Heroes. From there, the rest is history.

Aside from his workaholic tendencies to get the work done and do it well, Riol struggles with sleep - both due to previous traumas, and simple bouts of insomnia where sleep just doesn't come to him.Rather than putting himself through the fruitless effort of lying in a bed for hours and hours until sleep might claim him for an hour or less, Riol would rather keep himself busy. After all, exhaustion eventually will give way to much more rest than not.

Whether or not an eye still remains beneath the patch he wears, it's clear Riol's senses are stronger on the left though few are privy to why, let alone capable of understanding it.As of current day, Riol is unaware that the vision he receives in his left eye is Akasha(aka Dynamis) in visual form, and though he does not understand it, it does allow him the keen understanding of 'seeing' others feelings.And perhaps allows him to see through a poker face or two.

Being from Limsa means there's folks from all walks of life visiting port, and setting sail once the good gets given. Riol never once wanted to meet his father, but he knows he's likely a merchant going from place to place - might even have a wife who doesn't know Riol exists, might have half-siblings he'll never meet.Meeting his father or even potential siblings or blood-related family would only complicate his freedom and independence that he had to adapt to quickly.

He still wears the dikhlo of his first betrothed; if asked, he'll explain that it's good material and leave it at that, but truth is he struggles to let go of what happened. It is a stark reminder of the injustices of those deemed lesser, and a lesson he won't allow himself to forget.Alas, it is also from his past life - a rare topic he's likely unwilling to divulge to anyone who doesn't already know of it. While he's not opposed to marrying again, it's unlikely.

Stutters + Ableism. I have a stutter, and I've got several disabilities irl. If you write something for a character in a way that it doesn't make sense and reads that it's being done for shock value, I'm not interacting.gore + horror. don't get me wrong, I love good old psychological horror, but usual horror themes unless extensively discussed prior to writing scenes together is off-putting and might accidentally hit one of my triggers. So best to avoid it with me unless we've been friends at least a few weeks.nsfw. While I'm not against things getting hot and heavy between characters, it's very difficult for me to write nsfw, so please don't approach me expecting it.
